Dallas Comeau is one of the best two-way hockey players in the Alberta Junior Hockey League . . . and not a bad skater on top of that.
His ability has not gone unnoticed among university and college scouts and his efforts have been rewarded.
Comeau has been offered a scholarship with the Vermont Catamount - an NCAA Division I team.
"Dallas is a true professional," says Storm head coach/assistant general manager Matt Keillor. "His dedication to bettering himself both on and off the ice has culminated into the success he's seeing right now."
The 20-year-old Calgary native has played his entire Junior A career with the Alberta Junior Hockey League Storm scoring 35 goals with 68 assists for 103 points in 162 games.
"He's one of the best skaters in the league and one of the hardest players to knock off the puck under the goal line," said Keillor. "We're very excited to see his hard work pay off."
Comeau is the third leading point-getter on the Storm this year. He has 18 goals and 43 assists for 61 points in 55 games. That has him in 13th place in the league.
"His teammates knew how badly he wanted this and to see him achieve it is special for everyone," said Keillor. "We would like to congratulate Dallas on this new chapter and look forward to seeing him continue his hockey at the University of Vermont."
Comeau, a 5-foot-11 and 170 pound forward, is expected to join Vermont next season. The Catamount play in the Hockey East Conference against teams like Boston College and Boston University. They currently sit ninth in that conference with six wins, 12 losses and five ties.
Comeau's Storm teammate, Zach Okabe, earlier this season, committed to Vermont and is expected to play in Vermont at the start of the 2020 or 2021 season.
The Storm are in Bonnyville to take on the Pontiacs tonight and then head to Lloydminster to meet the Bobcats on Sunday before returning home to tangle with the North Division leading Spruce Grove Saints on Thursday.
