One step forward on Friday night. One step backward on Saturday.
After their exciting 4-3 come-from-beind win Friday night in Bonnyville, it appeared the Grande Prairie Storm had very little left in the tank for Saturday's rematch. Pontiacs dominated from start to finish in posting a 4-0 victory.
Actually, the score could have been a lot worse, if not for stellar goaltending from Nick Kulmanovsky. He was named the Storm player of the game, stopping 39 of the 43 shots he faced. Meantime, the Storm could only muster 19 on the Pontiacs net.
With the loss, Grande Prairie remains two points up on Drayton Valley for the final playoff spot. The Thunder had their game against Fort McMurray postponed, due to problems at the Drayton Valley Arena. Thunder now have three games in hand on the Storm.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Storm next weekend. They return home for Friday and Saturday match-ups at the Canada Games Arena with the powerfull Spruce Grove Saints. When the two clubs met earlier this month, the Saints won 7-1 and outshot the Storm 49-8.
