He Has The Power: Jared Power Looks to Build on Last Year

Acquired at the trade deadline last season, fans only got a small taste of what Jared Power is capable of. The Calgary product has battled some injuries the past few years, and as a result hasn’t started a season healthy. Matt Keillor, Head Coach & Associate General Manager, says:

“Talking with Power on the phone you can hear the excitement in his voice. He’s healthy and working out with Connor Blake in Calgary and he’s poised to have a big year. He has dynamic hands and is a pure scorer. He has a pro release and if he has time and space he makes you pay. This was a major factor when we acquired Power last year; we knew as a 20-year-old he could be a major offensive threat in the AJHL. We are really looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish this season. He has the ability to be a top scorer in the AJHL. He wants to obtain a scholarship and continue his hockey at a post-secondary institute and we as a staff want him to succeed in achieving his hockey goals. Were very excited about the makeup of this team and are looking forward to main camp”.

Even with a shortened season last year, the 6’2 veteran sniper still managed an impressive 15 goals and 15 assists in only 34 regular season games split between the Old’s Grizzlies and Grande Prairie Storm.

Power says he’s looking forward to returning to the Storm and building off what they accomplished last season:

“This is a huge season for us, coming off such a positive season last year we want to get back to the playoffs and go the distance. Seeing the city get behind us in the playoffs and the support we had was amazing. With the recruits we have coming this year and our veteran guys coming back I think we will have the group to reach our goal. For myself this is the first Junior A season coming in healthy and ready to go from the start. I have high expectations for myself and want to be on the ice in every situation. My goal is to be over a point per game player and help drive the offense and help this team win at all costs. I’m excited get things going and looking forward to the season”

Storm Main Camp will begin August 24th and will be highlighted with the Annual Brian Nash Memorial game on Sunday, August 26th at 3pm at Revolution Place. The Brian Nash game will be a great opportunity for Storm Fans to get their first look at this year’s team!
