Kulmanovsky Steals the Win

Goaltending was the difference Friday night in Bonnyville, as the Grande Prairie Storm stretched their winning streak to seven games. Storm sneaking out a 2-1 win over the Pontiacs, as Nick Kulmanovsky was brilliant between the pipes.

The homeside Pontiacs outshot Grande Prairie 46-19 on the night, but Kulmanovsky held the fort. That allowed Jade McMullen's goal early in the third period to be the difference, as the Storm moved two points up on the Pontiacs in the AJHL North standings, into a tie for second spot with Whitecourt—just one point behind first place Spruce Grove.

AJHL Player of the Week Gus Correale had staked the Storm to a 1-0 lead in the first period on the powerplay. Overall, Grande Prairie was 1-for-7 in the game with the man advantage, while holding the Pontiacs scoreless on four opportunities.

The two clubs meet again Saturday night in Bonnyville. Storm then return home next Friday and Saturday for match-ups against South Division opponents, the Brooks Bandits and the Canmore Eagles.
