Mahura commits to ACAC Champions

The Grande Prairie Storm are happy to announce that last years leading scorer Luke Mahura (St. Albert, AB) has committed to play for the NAIT OOKS of the ACAC. Mahura came to the Storm in a trade iAugust of 2015 and quickly became an offensive force for the team. He played over 200 games in the AJHL and scored 128 points over that time. Luke also played games in the WHL for the Prince Albert Raiders.

Coach / GM Kevin Higo: “We are very excited for Luke and his family that he is going to continue his hockey career with the NAIT OOKS. After the season there were numerous options both hockey and school for Luke and he had to make some tough decisions. NAIT was at the top of his list as it had the academic program he was looking for and it also gave him the opportunity to play hockey close to home. Luke was a great role model for our younger players last year and will be missed this year.”

With Mahura committing to NAIT that now has all of the 20 years from 2015-2016 continuing on their hockey careers at a post secondary institution. The whole Storm organization would like to congratulate Luke and his family and thank him for his time in Grande Prairie.
