Nathan Morgan Commits to Storm

The Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are pleased to announce 02 forward Nathan Morgan has committed for the 2018/19 season. The Calgary native spent last season playing in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League for the NAX Elite 15 program posting an impressive 29 goals and 26 assists in only 33 regular season games. Morgan added and another 3 points in 5 tournament games helping his team capture the 2018 CSSHL Elite 15 Championship!

Coach Keillor was impressed with Nathan from the very start. “You can see it in his eyes when he’s in the rink. He’s got that look of excitement when he sees the ice. He just wants to be out there. It’s the same thing we saw in Okabe. He wants to be a hockey player really bad and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. That’s in your DNA and that’s something the Storm put a premium on.  Nate is a fierce competitor with an impressive skill set and will be a key contributor offensively for us.”

Nathan couldn’t be happier to be in a Storm jersey next year. “I’m overwhelmed with excitement to have signed with the Storm. The entire Grande Prairie staff have been nothing but excellent with me and I look forward to returning the favor both on and off the ice. This is an organization that is stepping into a remarkable future and I am more than fortunate to be considered a part of it. I know that with their help I will be able to not only develop as a player, but a person as well”

Keillor also noted that there is some familiarity with Nathan coming from a program that he’s very familiar with. “NAX has developed very quickly into a premier destination in the CSSHL. To do that they did it the right way and developed elite coaches. I have had the opportunity to mentor a few of the coaches from NAX in the Alberta Cup program over the past few years and you can tell right away why they’re having success”

Nathan joins an exclusive group of 16-year old’s that have played for the Storm including Cruz Cote, 2018 AJHL Rookie of the year Zach Okabe and current New York Islander Tanner Fritz. Nathan is expected to join the Storm when they hit the ice for main camp August 24th at Revolution Place. Stay tuned for more announcements!
