RECAP Game 14: Lane Earns First AJHL Shutout

Grande Prairie came out in droves to fill the rink for the Grande Prairie Storm's Annual Pink in the Rink event for breast cancer awareness, and they were rewarded with a textbook shutout win from the home team. Osepchuk (2) opened up the scoring from Tenkoppel and Bierd, on a net-front tip at 2:15 in the first period. the Storm would clamp down on their own zone for the rest of the period, holding a 1-0 lead and only allowing 5 shots. The Canucks would spend almost 12 minutes of the second period on the PK, and the Storm would add 2 more tallies at even strength: Okabe (11) from Webb and Nordstrom, and Blake (2) from Boucher. The Canucks would only muster 2 shots in the second period, for a Storm lead in shots 22-7 at the second intermission. Okabe (12) would add the final nail in the coffin from Webb at 3:09 in the third period. The Storm would allow only 5 more shots in the 3rd period, and would cruise to a 4-0 win, allowing only 12 shots on the evening.

 

On the heels of Lane's first AJHL shutout, the Storm take on the Drumheller Dragons tomorrow night at 7:30pm here at Revolution Place.
