RECAP Game 3: The Storm Survive to Down the Saints

Despite a late flurry from The Spruce Grove Saints, the Grande Prairie Storm survived to hand the Saints their first loss of the season 5-4 at Revolution Place. Zachary Okabe (2) opened up the scoring early, from Webb, at 1:24 in the first period, and the Storm wouldn't look back. The Saints would answer back to make it 1-1, but Okabe (3) would add his second of the night unassisted to give the Storm the lead heading into the first intermission. The Saints would draw even at 10:06 in the second, but goals from Milot-Ouellet (2) – from Webb and Morgan – and Power (1) – from Okabe and Boucher, would give the Storm a two goal lead heading into the 3rd. Okabe (5) completed the hat-trick on the powerplay to make it 5-2, and the Saints would add a lot of shots and 2 more goals, but it was too little too late as the final score ended in the Storm's favour 5-4.

This was a game of firsts as Okabe had his first hat-trick in the AJHL, Kaeden Lane had his first win in the AJHL, and the Storm got their first win of the season against the very same team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.

The Storm continue their homestand tomorrow night against the Saints at Revolution Place. Puck drops at 7:30.
