The Grande Prairie Storm, Board of Directors, are pleased to announce Catherine Ridgeway as the new Executive Director for the AJHL hockey club.

Born and raised in Grande Prairie, Catherine Ridgeway will be a familiar face to many at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

Ridgeway comes to the Storm from her role as the Director of Events & Entertainment for the City of Grande Prairie, responsible for the management of Bonnetts Energy Centre, Montrose Cultural Centre and Dave Barr Community Centre. With background in venue management, event management and sponsorship sales, Ridgeway will move seamlessly into the role as Executive Director.
Ridgeway also brings board governance experience, sitting on several board in the past, currently elected to the Alberta Soccer Association Board of Directors, appointed as the board representative for the Alberta Soccer Association Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Indigeneity Committee.

Outside her life at the rink, Ridgeway is heavily involved with soccer in the Grande Prairie community as an assistant coach for the Northwester Polytechnic Lady Wolves soccer team, head coach of the Swan City Football Club U17 Girls soccer team and a long-time women’s league player.

“The Storm Hiring Committee and Board of Directors are fortunate to have attracted such a strong and respected candidate,” says Storm President, Murray Toews. “The Board unanimously voted to hire Ridgeway into the role. It is exciting to have an Executive Director with the experience and expertise Rideway has, but also to have a strong female leader in place to inspire more female representation in sport management. We are all excited for what Ridgeway will achieve during her career with the Storm.”

“It is an honour to be joining the Storm organization,” says Catherine Ridgeway. “The Storm is a Grande Prairie institution that has such an evident importance to the community. I look forward to connecting with fans, sponsors and stakeholders to continue to build strong relationships over the coming months.”

Catherine Ridgeway will be taking over from Business Manager Ryan Carter, who will be exiting the role on October 31, 2022. The Storm thanks Ryan Carter for his outstanding contributions to the organization.
