Storm Acquire Quality D-Man

The Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1998-born defenceman Parker Huebner (Leduc, AB) from the reining AJHL champion Brooks Bandits.

Gone the other way is 1998-born Carter Wolski. Carter, who played with the Storm last season. He began the season on a tryout with Cedar Rapids (USHL) before returning to the AJHL.

Huebner, 19, is in his second season in the AJHL. Last year, his first in the AJHL, he tallied 27 points (five goals, 22 assists) in 56 regular season games before adding another five assists in 13 playoff games eventually helping the Bandits capture the 2017 Gas Drive Cup, Western Championship and a berth in the 2017 RBC Cup.

“Whenever you can acquire a player from a program like Brooks, you know they know how to win,” said Storm head coach/assistant general manager Matt Keillor. “This is something we as a team and organization are learning how to do.

“The opportunity to bring someone like Parker into our room that has experienced an AJHL Championship and Royal Bank Cup is priceless. I coached against Parker in Bantam AAA, Midget AAA and now the Junior A level. He possesses a special skill set mixed with incredible speed that will definitely bolster our offense from the back end. We are excited to have a player with his capabilities”

The Storm would like to thank Carter Wolski for his contributions to the Strom organization both on and off the ice and wish him all the best with his new team.

Huebner is expected to make his Storm debut next Friday (October 27th)  when the storm play host to the Bonnyville Pontiacs at Revolution place at 7:30 p.m.

The team is back in action this weekend with games in Revolution Place Friday against the Calgary Canucks and Saturday against the Drumheller Dragons. Saturday's game is Pink In The Rink night with fundraising towards the battle against breast cancer.
