The Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are proud to announce that '01-born forward Brent Loukus has committed to the team for the 2019-20 season. The Michigan High School all-star is the second forward to commit to the Storm from the Calumet Copper Kings, joining teammate Sam Erkkila. Brent was awarded player of the year in the Great Lakes conference after an impressive senior season where he complied 27 goals and 53 points in just 25 games. The sniper was named first team all-state in 2017, 18 and 19. Loukus finishes his High School career as Calumet's all-time leader in goals (86) assists (107) and points (193).

Head Coach & Associate General Manager Matt Keillor had this to say of the Copper King forwards:

“Both Sam and Brent have been on our radar for some time. When I heard that they both made Team Michigan It gave us a chance to watch them in person. These guys are exciting to say the least, Brent is a power play specialist, explosive hands and feet, and is dangerous when he has the puck on his stick. Sam will be one of the fastest if not the fastest player in the AJHL and has an unbelievable compete level. To add these guys as part of our 2001 core is very exciting. Their both really great kids, polite and come from large hockey families. Alex Nordstrom spoke very highly of Brent and Sam and we put a lot of value in those conversations”.

Fans will get their first look at Brent when he joins new commits Sam Erkkila and Adin Kennedy when the Storm hit the ice for main camp in late august. Check back soon for more exciting announcements!
