The Grande Prairie Storm continue to bolster their line up heading into next season with another key signing. This time, 2004 Center Samuel Lyons has put pen to paper. The 6’1” Green Bay, Wisconsin product played this past season at Bay Port High, alongside another recent Storm signing earlier this summer Elliott Mikesch. In 22 games, the Bay Port captain recorded 15 goals and 35 assists.
GM Mark Bomersback had this to say about the signing,” We are thrilled to add a player of Sam’s calibre to the lineup for next season. He’s a very smart two way center with good speed , good puck skills and a strong compete level. He’s everything you want as a player for the center ice position. He’s the type of player that drives the bus on his line. We think Sam is going to be able to step in right away and help with the offence and help his linemates / teammates with their offensive game as well.”
Sam had this to say about joining the Storm, ”I’m excited for this opportunity in Grande Prairie. I’ve heard lots of good things about the team / culture, the city and the fans. I can’t wait to get to work come training camp.”
The Grande Prairie Storm would like to welcome Sam to the Storm Organization and the city of Grande Prairie. Fans can get their first look at Sam along with the rest of the Storm Line up Monday August 28th 7pm when the Brian Nash game takes place.
