Storm Sign Quebec Major Junior D-Man

Storm complete a trade with 2017 Fred Page Cup Champions Terrebonne Cobras

Storm have acquired 97 Defensemen Christopher Lanouette from Terrebonne Cobras of the Quebec JrAAA League in exchange for futures. Lanouette split last season between the Terrebonne Cobras and the Victoriaville Tigers of the QMJHL. The 6’2” 190lbs defenseman is a former 6th round pick by Chicoutimi in the 2013 QMJHL draft and has amassed an impressive 321 penalty minutes between both leagues.

Coach Matt “Terrebonne represented Eastern Canada at the 2017 RBC Cup and is a top program in Quebec Junior hockey. Any time you get a player from a program like that you know he has been part of a strong culture. When I spoke with Lanouette I asked him if he had any questions. His first question was “tell me about the guys?”. That speaks to his character, he’s a team first guy and that’s very important for our culture here. The thing that I like the most about Christopher is there’s no identity crisis. He’s mature enough to know what he’s capable of and he takes pride in being responsible defensively, getting pucks in the forwards hands with speed and clearing the net for his goaltender. I hope fans will fall in love with him and I think his teammates will appreciate his experience and style of play. We need some poise and toughness on our back end to provide confidence especially with some of the exciting young skill we have committed this year. Sometimes a player’s willingness can pigeon hole them into a certain role, but you don’t get drafted in the 6th round unless you can play hockey. I spoke with him again a few days ago and he’s eager to meet his teammates. We are very excited to have Lanouette join the Storm family!”

Lanouette will get to meet his new teammates when he arrives for main camp August 25th at Revolution Place. Call or come by Revolution Place today to reserve your season tickets!
