The Grande Prairie Storm are proud to announce the signing of 2005 right shot Dman Matthew Gillard. The 5’11” Yellowknife Product Split time last season in the BCHL with Salmon Arm and Merritt. Prior to that in 2022-2023 Matthew played U18 at NAX in the CSSHL.
GM Mark Bomersback had this to say about the Gillard signing. “ Matthew is great signing for us . Not only as a player but as a person coming into our lock room / community. He has a great compete level / is hard to play against , skates well, plays physical and can move pucks up the ice . We are excited to have him join our backend and be a part of the Storm family and be a part of the community in Grande Prairie.

Storm fans can get their first look at Matthew and the rest of the Storm when Main camp kicks off August 23rd. The Storm will play 5 exhibition games with two of those being at home. The first is set for August 27th vs the Whitecourt Wolverines and the second Sept 7th vs the Drayton Valley Thunder. The Storm regular season Home opener is set for September 13th vs the Whitecourt Wolverines at 7pm.
