Storm ready for Spring Camp
Fresh off an exciting turnaround season for the Storm they are already looking ahead to next year as they host 80 hopefuls for Spring Camp on Easter weekend at Revolution Place. Players will arrive for camp Friday afternoon and will be on the ice right away competing in skill sessions and small area games before battling it out Saturday and Sunday in full length games.
Head Coach Assistant General Manager Matt Keillor says hes excited to see the potential at this years spring camp. “Mark Bomersback and the scouting staff have done an excellent job this year and were expecting a highly competitive spring camp. The foundation for the way we want to play and the culture that's acceptable starts this weekend. Someone in this camp could be the future captain of this team. As a staff we grow and evolve every year and so does the way we evaluate, prepare and ultimately cultivate the winning culture were looking for”
Spring Camp can be an opportunity for both now and the future for some of these players says Keillor. “We had 19 affiliate players play games for us this season, we had a stretch there for a while where we had 2 or 3 affiliates in the lineup every game, so it shows you the importance of identifying these players early. Some of these guys are coming here to make our opening day roster next season and some are coming looking for an opportunity to be part of the future. Whatever the expectations are we want Grande Prairie to be a premier JrA destination in western Canada and bottom line is that starts with an all hands on deck approach from the staff”
