Storm win Back to Back at Home
The Grande Prairie Storm defeated the Drayton Valley Thunder 4-1 on Saturday night to complete a weekend sweep. The Storm came out of the gates quickly in the first period and at one point had a 8-0 shot lead. Michael Clarke started the scoring with a PP goal in the first period. In the 2nd Logan Mazerolle and Dallas Comeau both scored off quick offensive zone face off plays and gave the Storm a 3-0 lead. Former Storm Braden Jakubowski scored for the Thunder to bring them within 2 goals, but Michael Clarke scored into an empty net to finish off the scoring. Arik Weersink faced 26 shots and earned his first win of the season. The Storm were both a 100% on the PP and PK going 1 for 1 on both.
The Storm are now off until the weekend as they will play 3 games in 3 days. Friday and Saturday night the Storm will take part in the AJHL Showcase and will compete against the Camrose Kodiaks and Olds Grizzlys. Sunday the Storm will finish off the road trip with an afternoon game versus the Whitecourt Wolverines. Next home action is Friday Oct. 7th versus the Camrose Kodiaks and Saturday Oct. 8th when the Spruce Grove Saints visit Revolution Place for the first time this season.
