When Dan McIntyre arrives in Grande Prairie the Almonte, Ont. native won’t have to introduce himself to Storm head coach/general manager Mike Vandekamp.
Vandekamp is well aware who McIntyre is after coaching the 19-year-old forward for two seasons with the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the British Columbia Hockey League.
McIntyre was acquired from the Caps by the Storm in a trade on the weekend for Nathan Morgan.
The 5-foot-10, 160 pound McIntyre played 90 regular season games with the BC team scoring 13 goals and assisting on 34 others while taking 114 minutes in penalties. He also appeared in 17 playoff games for Vandekamp, who rejoined the Storm this spring.
McIntyre’s skill set has earned him a NCAA Division I scholarship from Cornell University.
Morgan, from Calgary, played two seasons with the Storm. The 18-year-old forward appeared in 113 games with GP.
The Storm wish him well with his new club.
McIntyre is expected to be available when the Storm start their cohort exhibition series against the Whitecourt Wolverines on Friday in Whitecourt. The teams meet each other again on Oct. 10 and Oct. 16 at Revolution Place Arena in Grande Prairie at 7 p.m. and then finish up the four-game series with a game in Whitecourt on Oct. 17.
The 2020 AJHL Exhibition Season will be broadcast on HockeyTV.com. Annual Passes are now available to AJHL fans at an $80 discount.
