The AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Matthew Strilets of the Grande Prairie Storm. The 2003-born defenceman added to his four-game point streak with five points (1G, 4A) in three games last week.
On February 7th, Strilets scored a goal and an assist, including the overtime game winner in a 4-3 final over the Olds Grizzlys. The Storm were held to a single goal in a 4-1 loss to the Bonnyville Pontiacs on February 10th with Matthew recording an assist. Grande Prairie would return to the winning column on February 11th with a 3-2 decision over the visiting Drayton Valley Thunder and two assists for Strilets.
With 30 points (5G, 30 A), Matthew Strilets is tied for third in scoring among all AJHL defencemen.
