The Grande Prairie Storm are pleased to announce that 1997 born goaltender

The Grande Prairie Storm are pleased to announce that 1997 born goaltender Arik Weersink has committed to the Storm for the 2015-2016 AJHL season.

Arik comes to the Storm from the Lethbridge Midget AAA Huricanes of the Alberta Major Midget Hockey League. During the 14-15 season Arik lead the AMHL with a 1.90 Goals Against Average and also tied the league lead with 3 shutouts. Recently he was voted as the Bill Ranford trophy winner as the top goaltender and was selected as the goalie on the 1st team All-Star for the AMHL.

Coach / GM Kevin Higo: ” We are excited to have Arik join the Storm for this upcoming season. Our scouts identified Arik early in the year as a top goalie prospect and he showed his talents throughout the year. I was able to see Arik play numerous times this past year and every game he gave his team a chance to win. He is a bog body (6'3″ 200lbs) that communicates well with his team-mates and he has strong puck skills. Arik came up to Grande Prairie for our spring camp and was able to meet the staff, see Revolution Place, and also look around our community.”
