Tough Night in Fort Mac

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons showed once again on Friday night why they are the number one ranked team in Canada in Junior A hockey.

Oil Barons crusing to a 6-1 win over the Grande Prairie Storm at the Casman Centre in the first of two weekend meetings between the clubs.  Home squad notching one goal in the first and two more in the second to take control of the contest.

Jade McMullen managed a powerplay goal for the Storm late in the middle period to cut the deifict to two.  However, any thoughts of a Storm comeback were erased in the third, when the Oil Barons put things away with three more goals.

With the loss, the Storm fall a game below the 500 mark for the season, at 14-15-2.  They also see their lead for fifth place in the AJHL North shrink to just one point, as sixth place Bonnyville nipped Drayton Valley 2-1.

Storm look for a split of their series with the MOB on Saturday, when they play in Fort McMurray for the final time this regular season.
