Training Camp team names to Honor Former Players

 The Grande Prairie Storm is proud to announce the team names for this year Training Camp.

The teams will be named after the only 2 players in team history to have their numbers retired. This years Training camp teams will be Team Lefley vs. Team Mohr.

Mike Lefley played for the Storm from 1999-2002 recording 85 goals 85 assists for 170 points which is good for second in franchise all time list .In 2002 he was named AJHL MVP and also played for Team Alberta at the Viking Cup Tournament. He then moved on to the University of Nebraska-Omaha (CCHA) and played 4 season for the Mavericks where he was first player in franchise history to hold the Captaincy for 3 seasons. In his time at U of Nabraska-Omaha he recorded 143 games played, 22 goals, 17 assists for 39 points and also had 186 PIMS.


Mike Mohr a local Grande Prairie product played for the Storm from 1994-1999. After his time with his hometown GP Storm Mike moved on to the CHL and played 5 seasons (99-05) 4 of which for the Tulsa Oilers where he recorded 259 games played, 24 goals, 62 assists for 86 points and 432 PIMS. He then took a season off and resumed playing for the Austin Ice Bats (CHL) for the 04/05 season where he recorded 60 games played, 10 goals, 19 assists good for 29 points along with 107 PIMS. He also suited up for the GP Athletics from 08/12.
