Wednesday night battle against longtime rivals

Longtime rivals Fort McMurray Oil Barons come to Grande Prairie for a Wednesday night battle against the Storm, who are returning from a series of road games over three straight weeks.

The road tilts resulted in three victories, and came as they wrapped up their best month of this season picking up five wins. The Storm also scored 43 goals in November, beating the combined total of 39 goals scored for September and October. This trend follows a team improvement of goals for, and reduced goals against at the same time, when compared to the first two months of the season.

Goals For averages:

• 2.05 – Sep & Oct
• 3.58 – Nov

Goals Against averages:

• 5.16 – Sep & Oct
• 4.67 – Nov

The Storm also outscored opponents 28-11 in November's five wins, and were separated by only one goal in two other matches. The Storm had picked up only two wins in the previous two months.

The Storm faced Fort McMurray once this season on Friday night, with the Oil Barons picking up a 5-3 win. The teams will face each other six times this season, and are fighting over the final playoff position in the Viterra AJHL North Division, which is currently held with a two point lead by the Storm.

The game starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at Revolution Arena. Weekday pricing applies to this game, with ticket prices ranging from $4 to 12 per ticket.
