Bernier Recieves National Recognition

CALGARY, Alta. – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that forwards ??Justin Bernier (Grande Prairie Storm, AJHL) and Brendan Hamelin (Cobras de Terrebonne, LHJAAAQ) as well as goaltender Lasse Petersen (Portage Terriers, AJHL) have been named its Gongshow Gear 3 Stars of the Month for November.

1ST STAR: JUSTIN BERNIER, (F) GRANDE PRAIRIE STORM (AJHL) – The 20-year-old Bernier racked up 17 points in just 10 games for his AJHL side, the Grande Prairie Storm, last month. …. Bernier etched his name on the scoresheet in nine of those outings collecting five goals and a dozen assists in that span. … His efforts also earned him his league player of the month laurels for November. … The Montmagny, Que., product currently leads the AJHL in scoring with 51 points in just 34 outings, including 20 goals.

Bernier and his teammates take to the ice again Wednesday when they host the Whitecourt Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. at Revolution Place Arena.

2ND STAR: BRENDAN HAMELIN, (F) COBRAS DE TERREBONNE (LHJAAAQ) – Hamelin was an offensive force for the LHJAAAQ-leading Cobras last month. … The veteran 20-year-old right winger was impressive racking up 26 points in just seven games on five tallies and 21 helpers. … The LHJAAAQ’s first star of the month also posted a solid plus-19 rating for Terrebonne. … Hailing from St-Lin-Laurentides, Que., Hamelin tops his league in points with 83 after 31 games on 24 goals and 59 assists.

3RD STAR: LASSE PETERSEN, (G) PORTAGE TERRIERS (MJHL) – Petersen reeled off seven victories in November for the defending MJHL champion Terriers, which helped him earn league goaltender of the month honours. … November saw him post a 1.84 goals-against average along with a solid .933 save percentage and one shutout for Portage. … A former netminder for Denmark in international competition at the under-20, U-18 and U-16 levels, Petersen also boasts 73 appearances in the WHL.
