Kings Nip Storm In Pre-Season

The Grande Prairie Storm crossed the border and came up a little bit short on Saturday.

The Storm travelled to Prince George to take on the British Columbia Hockey League Spruce Kings and were nipped 3-2 in the B.C. city.

It was the Storm's second pre-season game and second loss to the Kings, who had downed the Storm 3-1 in Grande Prairie earlier in the week.

In other AJHL pre-season play Saturday the Okotoks Oilers downed the Olds Grizzlys 4-2; Bonnyville Pontiacs topped the Lloydminster Bobcats 4-1; the Calgary Mustangs topped the Calgary Canucks 5-3; and the Penticton Vees of the BCHL downed the AJHL's Brooks Bandits 4-2.

Next up to close out pre-season play for the Storm are the Whitecourt Wolverines, a Storm North Division foe in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The Storm are in Whitecourt on Friday and then host the Wolverines on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Revolution Arena.

The Storm open the AJHL regular season with a pair of home games against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons – Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and then Sunday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m.
