All the Grande Prairie Storm needed was one second more and they would have made it into the shoot out. Such was not the case, though, as the Olds Grizzlys scored on the powerplay with under one second left on the clock for a 2-1 overtime victory on Tuesday night.
Storm played a solid road game, outshooting the hometown Grizzlys 35-27 and killing off all three powerplays they faced in regulation time. Ian McLellan's holding call at 3:35 of the OT, though, proved to be the one they couldn't get through.
Chase Thudium had the lone goal for the Storm in the second period, about one minute after the Grizzlys opened the scoring. Grande Prairie's beleagured powerplay had a number of chances to try to grab the lead, but went scoreless on five occasions.
The one point for the shoot out loss moves the Storm one ahead of Bonnyville for fifth place in the AJHL North, as the Pontiacs lost 5-2 to Whitecourt. Storm continue their road trip Wednesday evening in Brooks, against the South Division leading Bandits.
