Despite outshooting the Oil Barons in their barn 43-35, the Storm ran into a hot goalie and couldn't finish off the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in overtime. After the Oil Barons opened the scoring, the Storm tied the game up 1-1 after a goal on an odd-man rush scored by Osepchuk (1), from Strang at 10:40 in the 1st period. The Oil Barons would take the lead again int he second period, with the Storm tying it up 2-2 at 10:37 on the PP, scored by C. Cote (1), from Webb. The 3rd period went without a goal for either time, and the Oil Barons snagged the extra point at 1:56 in overtime. Head Coach & Associate General Manager had the following to say about the game:
“It's not every day you can generate 40-plus shots in Fort McMurray. Curr deserves all the credit here, he made some huge saves for them late when we seemed to have all the pressure. Slobodzian had a great game as well, he made some key saves that kept their lead to one so we could tie it up. It's never a bad thing collecting points on the road even if it's one, but now we have the opportunity to come home with 3 points. That's the goal.”
