Storm Add Two Players

Parker Smyth has joined the Grande Prairie Storm.along with Demetrius Kambeitz.

Smyth, an 18-year-old forward, was acquired from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for future considerations.

The nephew of Edmonton Oilers legend Ryan Smyth, Parker had appeared in 23 games with the Saints this year, his first at the Junior A level, with a goal, two assits and 19 penalty minutes.

He stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 180 pounds and can play left wing or centre.

His last season of midget hockey, with his hometown Red Deer Chiefs, Smyth had nine goals and 17 assists in 30 games.

In the 2013 Western Hockey League draft he was selected in the second round, 44th overall, by the Saskatoon Blades and then traded to the Vancouver Giants of the WHL where he appeared in one game last season.

His father is Kevin Smyth, who played in the NHL with the Hartford Whalers.

Kambeitz,18, was acquired from the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL.

He is a defenceman standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 180 lbs. The Denver, CO native played midget hockey with the Edge School in Calgary last year.

Both players are expected to be in the lineup this weekend when the Storm host the Calgary Mustangs (7:30 p.m.) Saturday and the Drayton Valley Thunder (2 p.m.) on Sunday.
