Top Two North Teams Battle

The top two teams in the Alberta Junior Hockey League's North Division being the Spruce Grove Saints and your very own Grande Prairie Storm took each other on, at the Grant Fuhr Arena in Spruce Grove last night.

After a very hard fought first period Ryan Mattews had the Storm up by one with his marker from Marc-Etiene Drapeau early in the frame.

The second period saw the Storms Jordan McTaggart put the Storm ahead by two. But the Saints returned the favor with two marker one from Connor Hoekstra and a PP goal from Tim Nolte left the game tied at two with just over two minutes left to play, when with only 17 seconds left to play Gus Correalle put the Storm ahead 3 to 2 going to the second intermission.

The third period was not as friendly to the Storm with the Saints Dylan Richard tying the game at the 15:01 mark and then two minutes later Dallas Smith of the Saints notched the game winner for the Saints. The result was the Storm suffering a lose to the Saints in Spruce Grove and giving the Saints a 5 point lead in the race for top spot in the North however the Storm still have 5 games in hand.

The Storm next see action this weekend at the Canada Games Arena when the Storm play host to the Sherwood Park Crusaders in a Double Header being played Friday and Saturday Night.

Puck Drops at 7:30 pm and tickets to both games are available at the Box Office in the Canada Games Arena
