2003 Rybinski Commits to Storm

The Grande Prairie Storm are proud to announce that 2003 defenceman Luke Rybinski has committed to play for the Storm for the 2023-2024 season.

The 6’4 200 pound Vancouver product spent the last couple years in the Western Hockey League with the Medicine Hat Tigers and Victoria Royals. Last year with the Royals, Luke played 57 games, scoring 1 goal while adding 7 assists to go along with 72 penalty minutes. Luke was originally drafted in the 7th round by the Kamloops Blazers.

GM Mark Bomersback had this to say about Rybinski.” We are very happy that Luke has decided to join the Storm for next season. He’s a big, mobile D that defends well and is hard to play against. We feel it’s a strong addition to what we feel is already a pretty solid D-core. His veteran leadership will be a key asset not only on the ice but in the dressing room as well. Talking with Luke, he’s very motivated and driven to come in and help the Grande Prairie Storm win hockey games while furthering his own hockey career beyond this season.”

Rybinski had this to say about joining the Storm.” In talking with Eric & Mark, I heard a clear sense and vision of their team goals to take a big step forward. The opportunity to be a part of making that happen in a hockey community with very committed fans, made my decision to join the Storm easy. I’m excited to be part of a very competitive team and the great city of Grande Prairie.”
