Empty Handed

1298 fans came out to cheer on the Grande Prairie Storm in their home opener Friday night at the Revolution Arena, but will have to wait at least one more night to cheer for their first goal.

Storm couldn't solve Bonnyville goaltender Joey Desrosiers, who made 27 saves in a 3-0 win for the Pontiacs, in what was the first game of the 2014-15 AJHL season for both clubs.  Pontiacs led 1-0 following the opening period, then added two more goals in the third.

Liam McLeod was also solid between the pipes for the home side, as he blocked 28 of the 31 shots fired his way.  Neither team controlled play for any long stretches of time in this one and powerplays were not a factor t all, with only two penalties called in the contest—one per side.

The two clubs will get right back at it Saturday night, as they meet again at 7:30 in the Revolution Arena.  These are the first two of four straight home games the Storm have to start the season.  Next weekend, it'll be the Fort McMurray Oil Barons who make a visit to the Swan City.
