STORM HEAD TO SPRUCE

 Rust or rest?

That question will be answered tonight when the Grande Prairie Storm take on the Spruce Grove Saints in Spruce Grove.

Storm coach/general manager Blaine Bablitz is hoping it won't be rust as the team heads into the game well rested after having a week off between games.

He is also no doubt hoping there will be no repeat of the September 18 game when his top line of Gus Correale, Sam Lawson and Marc-Etienne Drapeau saw little ice time because of plethora of penalties against the Storm in a 5-2 loss to the Drayton Valley Thunder.

The Storm trio has a combined 18 points in five games. Correale leads the way with seven points on five goals and two helpers while Lawson is 2-4-6 and Drapeau 2-3-5.

Grande Prairie heads into the game, the first against the Saints this season, in sixth place with two wins and three losses. The Saints are third with seven points and one more game played. A win would move the Storm into fourth place.

Tonight's game is the first of three this week for the Storm in Spruce Grove.

The team will be back in the city Friday and Saturday taking part in the Alberta Junior Hockey League Showcase. The Showcase involves all AJHL teams and is set up to “showcase” AJHL players to college, university and professional scouts.

The Storm take on the Canmore Eagles on Friday at 5 p.m. and the Calgary Canucks at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Showcase. The Storm Booster Club has booked a bus for the Saturday game. Anyone interested in hopping on the bus can call the Storm office at 780-538-4919.
