The Grande Prairie Storm are proud to announce that Ian Mclellan has committed to Concordia University of Edmonton for the 2016-2017 season.

Ian has had a break out season already surpassing his point totals from his previous years with the Storm. Mclellan is currently in his 3rd season with the Storm and has been both an assistant captain as well this year taking over the captain position mid way through the season. He has played 161 AJHL games and has seen his goal and point totals increase every year. He currently sits at 30 goals and 67 points in his 3 years with the Storm.

Concordia University Head Coach Dan Glegoff, ” Ian is going to be a big addition for us and will fit in with our group.” The Concordia University Thunder play in the Alberta College Athletic Conference and has been a member for 24 years. The Thunder have many AJHL Alumni on their roster as do the other ACAC teams.

Storm Coach and GM Kevin Higo, “We are very happy for Ian and his family on selecting where he will play hockey and attend school next year. Through the process Ian has had many opportunities both south of the border as well in Canada. He is a mature young man that looked through his options and made the decision that Concordia University in Edmonton was the best fit for him both academically and hockey wise. Ian has really grown as a player and person over the past 2 years. His work ethic and dedication off the ice has been a example for the younger players on the Storm and he continues to be active in the community and committed to becoming a better hockey player.
