Trade Alert – Storm Aquire a pair of Veterans

The Grande Prairie Storm have Acquired 2003 Forward Matt Corbet and 2003 Defenceman  Matthew Strilets from the Calgary Canucks in exchange for future considerations. The Storm would like to welcome the pair to the Storm Organization and the city of Grande Prairie. Welcome Guys!

GM Mark Bomersback had this to say on the newly acquired.” Really excited to add both these players to our lineup next season and into our dressing room. With Corbet you’re getting a power forward that can score, plays the game the right way and will bring our overall compete level up. He had a very productive year last year as a 19 year old scoring 20 goals. We will look for him to hit that number and above this year. With Strilets we are getting a player that he and head coach Eric Thurston are very familiar with. Matt was on the Drayton Valley team that went all the way to the North final in 2022 with Eric and the Drayton Valley Thunder. He can play in any situation , he’s a strong kid that’s hard to play against defensively and can move pucks to help the offensive side of things .Both these players are quality young man that will be role models for the young guys and will fit very nicely with the players we have returning from last season.”

Fans can get their first look at the pair and the rest of the Storm roster when the teams annual Brian Nash Intersquad game kicks off Monday August 28th at 7pm at the Bonnetts Energy Centre. Get your season tickets today!
