Grande Prairie, AB (Oct 1,2018) – Storm forward Zachary Okabe makes an appearance on NHL Central Scouting's Players to Watch list for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The 17-year-old had an incredible rookie season in the AJHL, posting 57 points (22G-35A) in 58 games, ultimately earning 2017/18 AJHL Rookie of the Year honors. Okabe is currently ranked as a “C” prospect, suggesting a likely 4/5/6th round selection and is committed to attend St. Cloud State University. The sophomore joins Brooks Bandits defensemen Luke Bast as the only AJHL players to be listed. Zachary has continued to build on his Rookie of the Year campaign, finding the back of the net 7 times in just as many games and currently sits tied for most goals in the AJHL. Okabe's 10 points (7G-3A) in 7 games has him holding 7th spot among AJHL point leaders.
The Storm hit the road tonight for a weekday game in Whitecourt before returning for a 2 game homestand against the Calgary Mustangs Friday night, and the Olds Grizzlies Saturday night at Revolution Place 7:30pm. Reserve your tickets online or through the Strom App on your mobile device.
