RECAP Game 6 & 7: Storm Split the Showcase Weekend

Goals came quickly and came often as the Storm took to Camrose this weekend to face the host team Camrose Kodiaks on Friday, and the Olds Grizzlys on Saturday.

In their first match, the Storm would strike first with Milot-Ouellet's (4) first period marker at 4:58 of the first period, assisted by Nordstrom and W. Cote. The host team would find the back of the net twice, once on the powerplay, to take the lead halfwya through the first. The Storm would tie the game on the back of their powerplay, scored by C. Cote (2), from Nordstrom and Pouliot. After scoring a shorthanded marker to end the first, the Kodiaks would find the net 3 times in the 2nd period to increase their lead to 6-2 heading into the 3rd period. After another Kodiak goal, Okabe (6), from Nordstrom and C. Cote, would add one before the end of the game to make the final score 7-3.

After being held to 5 goals in 3 games, the Storm's offence would bounce back in a big way Saturday afternoon against the Olds Grizzlys. The Storm offence came out on fire, scoring 4 goals to start the first period: Okabe (6), from Nordstrom and C. Cote, Nordstrom (1) from Webb, Nordstrom (2) from Webb and Okabe, and C. Cote (3) from Blake and Milot-Ouellet. The Grizzlys would add one before the end of the first making the score 4-1 for the Storm heading into the 2nd frame. The Grizzlys would add 2 more markers at the start of the 2nd period to make it close, but the Storm pulled away with two more goals at 10:28, Spadafore (1) from Okabe and C. Cote, and Morgan (2) from Spadafore at 15:31. Olds would add another marker before the 2nd period came to a close to make the score 6-4 for the Storm heading into the final period. The Storm would open up the scoring in the 3rd with a goal from Blake (1) from C. Cote and Cunningham at 13:55 in the 3rd. The Grizzlys would score followed by a quick unassisted response fromt he Storm on Okabe's (7) seventh goal of the year.

The Storm take on Whitecourt on the road this Tuesday, and then return home to face the surging Calgary Mustangs on Friday and the winless Olds Grizzlys on Saturday.
