The Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have acquired 2001 born defensemen Juliano Santalucia from the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL for future considerations. The 18-year-old is already entering his 3rd full season in Jr. A after stops with the Olds Grizzly?s (AJHL), Coquitlum Express (BCHL) and most recently the Surry Eagles (BCHL). The product of Burnaby, BC has over 100 games of Jr. A experience and will help bolster the Storm?s young blue line.
General Manager Mark Bomersback had this to say on the recent acquisition.
?We really felt we needed to add a veteran on the back end. On most nights we have up to three or four defence in the lineup that are playing their first year of junior hockey. Juliano gives us another solid veteran presence back there moving forward and instantly makes our D core much faster and harder to play against in our own end. He?s an excellent skater and competes hard on both sides of the puck and will help ease the transition into Jr. A for some of our less experienced guys.?
Juliano is expected to join his new team during their 3 game road trip that starts with a division crossover Friday night in Camrose AB against the Camrose Kodiaks.
