Storm Sign 2004 Goaltender Nicholas Jones

The Grande Prairie Storm are Proud to announce the signing of 2004 Goaltender Nicholas Jones. The 6’1 Calgary , Alberta product played the 2022-2023 season and the start of this season for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. Before that, in 2021-2022, Nicholas was a standout in the AEHL U18 Division for Calgary Buffalos. That year the Buffalos went on to win the U18 championship and Nicholas would take home Multiple awards including  Top Goaltender,  Playoff MVP, First team all star. Welcome to the Storm, Nicholas!

Storm GM Mark Bomersback had this to say about adding Jones to the roster.” We are very excited to add a veteran goaltender of Nicholas’s caliber to our team. When it was first brought up to the staff that he might be available, we didn’t hesitate and jumped all over it as quickly as we could. Myself as well as the rest of the staff are very familiar with him in seeing him over the years play minor hockey in Calgary/ throughout Alberta. He’s not only good at keeping pucks out of the net,but he’s a great character kid / teammate that wants to play , continue to get better and further his hockey career after his junior career is over. I think he will fit right in with the solid group of athletes / people we have in place already. It will also take some  pressure off both our young goaltenders in Austin Dubinsky and Angelo Zol, who have been great so far.”

The Storm return home this Friday looking to make it 3 wins in a row as they host the Canmore Eagles. It’s a special event Hockey Hooky game so the puck will drop Friday at 12:00pm. Don’t miss the action and get your tickets today!
