The Grande Prairie Storm are excited to announce the signing of 2004 Right winger Kyle Smyth and 2004 Center Dylan Thorn from The Frederick Gunn School in the USHS Prep division. The Frederick Gunn School is a private, coeducational, boarding and day prep school for students in grades 9-12 and postgraduate, located in rural Connecticut, United States.

Storm Coach Eric Thurston had this to say about the Forwards ” with Kyle you’re getting a winger with deceptive speed ,a good skill set that likes to shoot the puck , he hounds pucks on the forecheck and he doesn’t shy away from the physical part of the game.” With Dylan you’re getting a solid two way center that competes every shift and doesn’t lose many battles. He’s strong on his feet and hard to play against. He sees the ice well and offensively can make plays. We are very excited to add both these players to our team for next season.”
Kyle Smyth’s thoughts on joining the Storm” I’m super excited to continue my development with the Grande Prairie Storm. I can’t wait to get started and have a successful season from a team standpoint as well as individually. I look forward to meeting my fellow teammates as well as Storm fans / locals within the community.” Dylan had this to say ” I’m very excited to get going in Grande Prairie this upcoming season. I feel I couldn’t have made a better choice and can’t wait to get started come August. Go Storm! ”
We would like to welcome both Dylan and Kyle along with their families to the Grande Prairie Storm organization! Fans can get their first look at the pair along with the rest of the Storm roster when main camp kicks off in late August. The annual Brian Nash game will be played Monday Night August 28th at 7:00pm.
